What was going through my mind as I was doing this? Ive been asked this a couple of times and often reply with "well it just came together."
This peice had a purpose to me so it is kind of special in that respect. Its about being different. The mer-man is looking to the sky through the water [hence birds and the odd angle he is in] and knowing he cant belong on the land he still longs to be there, to experience it. However he is 'cursed' to live in the sea. Taking this to a real life scenario there is often people who believe they cant do something or cant be something.

As I read Nemo, the music of Nightwish and the story of Julio Verne was the first thing that showed up. I think, if it wasn't for Nauctilus, Nemo would look like that. Congrats.
